Hydraulic oils formulated for food manufacturing

NSF H1 certified HLP hydraulic oils exhibit excellent low friction characteristics, low temperature fluidity and water separating behaviour as well as far lower top up needs.
Modern hydraulic systems tend towards smaller reservoirs and finer tolerances which can result in higher operating temperatures in turn putting greater demands on the system oil. These demands can be excessive for traditional mineral based hydraulic oils yielding operational problems, regular top up and short useful life. The food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries are no different except their special demands also include certified food grade hydraulic oils.

Stick-slip tendency can be a common problem in hydraulic applications arising from degradation of the oil as a result of the combined effects of oxidation (accelerating with increasing temperatures) and contaminants including water (e.g from condensation).

Systems may also be subject to cold starts causing sluggish operation.
