West Group introduces Rheonetic Rotary Actuators
The West Group introduces the Turn-Act Rheonetic Rotary Actuator, which combines the affordability of an air powered actuator with the control of an electric servo device. The Rheonetic rotary actuator is a Vane type actuator that utilises a Magneto-Rheological (MR) fluid filled brake sysytem. MR fluid has ferrous particles in suspension such that when a magnetic field is applied the material transitions from a liquid to a solid in less than 30ms.
Varying the magnetic field can modify the rate of transition.
The repeatability is extraordinary.
"Stepper" motion, position, velocity, deceleration or acceleration control are all possible with the addition of a rotary encoder and PLC.
As compared with other motion control devices, the Rheonetic Rotary Actuator combines the durability of Turn-Act's Rotary Actuator with the braking strength of Magneto-Rheological (MR) fluid.
Infinite positioning is possible throughout the entire rotation.
