Welcome to Hydraulic Information

Hydraulics replace geared crank presses

For multiple heavy-duty punching, piercing, coining as well as metalforming, hydraulic presses are rapidly replacing mechanically geared, double crank presses

Pacific OBMs and OBLs are rapidly replacing mechanically geared, double crank presses in heavy punching and blanking applications. The OBM line is available in 1000kN to 5000kN (100 to 500 tonf) models and the OBL is available in 2000kN to 10MN (200 to 1000 tonf) models both offered in a variety of bed lengths. A number of features make this machine perfect for today's tough manufacturing environment including the following applications: multiple punching, piercing, coining, embossing, bending, forming, and draw operations.

The rugged construction of the OBM and OBL features an interlocked steel design that absorbs and evenly distributes full force capacities.

Loads are transmitted to the frame via precisely fitted, large diameter bearing blocks that eliminate high stress concentrations.

The OBM and OBL's advanced hydraulic system is both compact and self-contained, and delivers performance characteristics like automatic cylinder synchronization (OBL only), overload protection, automatic decompression, three advance speeds, and other features to enhance reliability and performance.

Control is provided by the PLC with programmable interface, which features two-line display and keypad for data entry to program top, bottom, speed change point, and tonnage control.

For automated operation with press feeders or robotics, the control has built-in interlocks and a light guard safety system interface.

An array of options, including increased open heights, knock outs, die cushions, special bolster configurations, hydraulic die clamps, quick die change systems, light guards, coil systems, and CNC capabilities allow users to precisely tailor OBM and OBL performance to highly specific needs.

Full factory training and service support is available from Pacific.

Headquartered in Mt Carmel, Illinois, Pacific Press Technologies is a leading builder of hydraulic presses, pressbrakes and shears for the metal forming and compression molding (advanced composites, rubber, plastics) industries.
