Welcome to Hydraulic Information

Column level indicators are easily viewed

Column level indicators for hydraulics are housed in a zinc alloy protective shroud with viewing window for use in areas where mechanical damage is more likely. The Elesa-Clayton range of hydraulic accessories is extended by their range of column level indicators. Of particular interest are the HCX/P impact protected and the HCX/E remote warning variants. This range of accessories covers plugs, dipsticks, filler/breathers, bushings, filler flanges, level, indicators, temperature indicators and of course the column level indicator units.
The HCX/P column level variants are housed in a zinc alloy protective shroud with viewing window for use in areas where mechanical damage is more likely.
All shocks are absorbed by the protective metal casing that transmits them directly onto the wall of the machine, since the indicator is suspended between rubber O-rings.
During breaking strength tests performed in the laboratory, the indicator plus the protection withstood shocks up to 35J.
Standard features of the column indicator include a robust transparent body, which is in itself resistant to shocks, solvents, oils and most hydrocarbon derivatives.
This is complemented with a white lacquered aluminium back-screen, which provides a good measure of contrast for easy reading of most liquid menisci.
Ease of use is enhanced by the lens effect of the moulding optics, which ensures maximum fluid level visibility even from side positions.
Maximum working temperature is 900degC.
In addition to visual readout of oil level, the HCX/E features AC/DC electronic signal generation when the oil level drops to a minimum.
This is achieved by a black polyamide expanded technopolymer float with a built-in magnetic element, which activates the (normally open) contacts (normally closed also available) when the level crosses its alarm threshold.
The body of the HCX/E is similar to other Elesa-Clayton vertical column level indicators, being of easy to read design, resistant to most oils and hydrocarbon derivatives (except alcohol).
The assembly is completed with a sensor bracket containing a built-in reed relay wired to a swivelling 2-pin connector.
